  • About Me

I am a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Center for Microbial Pathogenesis, as well as a member of the Cancer Biology Program at the OSUCCC – James, where my research centers on microbial resistance to innate immunity. In particular, I am focused on the macrophage as well as the mucosal surface.

In one of my studies, I am using a mouse model to determine if S. Typhi gallbladder carriage leads to cancer. If so, this finding could contribute significantly to early detection or prevention of gallbladder cancer. It also could indicate a broader relationship between chronic infections and cancer.

I have authored or co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Frontiers in Microbiology, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and International Journal of Pharmaceutics.
