Kathryn Anne Vannatta, PhD
Academic Title: Professor in the College of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences
Research Program: Cancer Control
About Me
More info forI am a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, where my research focuses on the psychological outcomes of children affected by cancer.
In particular, I seek to understand how family and peer relations, as well as risk and resilience, are shown in the social development of children facing chronic illness or significant disruption in family functioning.
One of my recent studies showed that a mother’s harsh and withdrawn communication about cancer with her child could be predicted by her primary control coping and depressive symptoms.
I have co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including Psycho-Oncology, Journal of Child Neurology, Journal of Pediatric Psychology and Pediatric Blood & Cancer.
