Academic Title: Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine
Research Program: Translational Therapeutics
About Me
More info forI am a surgical oncologist who specializes in treating patients with endocrine cancers and diseases, particularly those that arise in the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. I love working with patients, their families and other health care providers so patients can understand their diagnosis and their options for surgery. I believe this individualized approach to cancer care is essential to ensure the best outcome. As a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research is focused on using human organoid technology to generate insulin-producing cells to study the molecular basis of thyroid and parathyroid disease. I also enjoy working on three-dimensional models of endocrine cancer in order to find new and personalized approaches for these cancers. My work has been published in over 20 peer-reviewed journals, such as Journal of Clinical Investigation, Scientific Reports, Science and Blood, and I have given numerous presentations at invited seminars. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at The Ohio State University and a member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons. Working at the OSUCCC – James is a truly rewarding experience. I love being part of multiple teams in order to give patients the best possible care, whether that’s working with providers from other specialties in the clinic or collaborating with engineers, molecular biologists and stem cell biologists in the lab to discover new cancer treatments.
