About Me
More info forAs the division chief for Oncologic Plastic Surgery at the OSUCCC – James, I focus on reconstruction for cancer patients, particularly microsurgery and surgical treatment for lymphedema. I also serve as medical director of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center. I am one of only a few surgeons in the country who can perform two breakthrough surgical treatments to relieve lymphedema. These micro-vascular surgeries treat symptoms of lymphedema by re-routing lymphatic channels to allow proper fluid drainage or re-introducing lymph nodes to the affected region. In addition, The James is one of the few hospitals in the country that has a comprehensive team of lymphedema doctors. Since I work with cancer patients from the moment they receive their diagnosis, I especially enjoy getting to know them and accompanying them on their journey to recovery. To ensure the highest quality level of treatment, I work with physicians from all specialties to create a targeted treatment plan for the oncologic, physical and psychological needs of each of my patients. I particularly enjoy working at Ohio State because of our multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The combination of outstanding scientific expertise and focus on research, enthusiasm, professionalism and compassion from all members of our treatment team, makes our organization an obvious choice for patients and care providers alike. As a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research focuses on clinical outcomes of breast, sarcoma, and head and neck cancer reconstruction. I am also interested in the pathophysiology and surgical treatment of lymphedema. One of my recent studies indicates inflammatory breast cancer should not eliminate the option of free flap breast reconstruction. I have published nearly 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts and three book chapters, as well as co-editing the textbook Advanced Therapy of Breast Diseases and a textbook on head and neck reconstruction, pending publication. I serve as an editorial board member for the Archives of Clinical and Experimental Surgery (ACES) and as a guest reviewer for the Annals of Plastic Surgery. I also hold several offices in national professional organizations.

Patient Comments
Dr. Skoracki is the best!! Very kind and compassionate, professional and knowledgeable.
All the people were polite and helpful and the facility is excellent. Time waiting in exam room was long; however, I realize sometimes medical appointments are determined by how long the doctor has to spend with other patients.
I realize giving you 5's across the board isn't very informative, but I'm trying to find something to critique you on. I just can't.
Dr. Skowracki is such a kind and caring doctor. He thoroughly explained the procedure and then executed it with precision and care. He even cut my two bandages in heart shapes! He is such a caring physician. He is wonderful.
I have never felt rushed. Care Provider takes time to explain the treatment and answer questions.
Dr. Skoracki is the best!
Staff went Over and beyond
Felt very assured that my questions, concerns and outcome was heard and taken into consideration with future treatment plan.

Good ratings reflect having new Md , mark Mishu who administered the local anesthetic. I realize OSU Is a teaching hospital but under circumstances , would have preferred known team . I would rate dr Skoracki as excellent .

Dr. Skoracki was great with everything! Would definitely recommend to anyone going through reconstruction.
These questions go to the heart of your treatment. All were outstanding; the amount of time and willingness to answer any and all questions, to explain and discuss all options and to ask my input was so reassuring. These things are what build the trust and confidence that I need in my provider.
I drive from Cincinnati to see Dr. Skoracki.
Dr. Skoracki is top notch.
