About Me
More info forI am a surgical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of breast cancer. I perform breast conservation surgeries (lumpectomies, partial mastectomies, etc.) using hidden scar and oncoplastic techniques. I also perform nipple-sparing mastectomies. I am passionate about making sure my patients have the best oncologic outcomes with great cosmetic results. I believe in taking a patient-centered approach in the management of breast cancer. The comprehensive and multidisciplinary care provided at The James enables me to work with patients to achieve their treatment goals. As a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research is focused on examining how social determinants of health and financial toxicity affect clinical outcomes among breast cancer patients. In addition to my clinical and research work, I am an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University and a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of breast cancer treatment, it is important that our patients have access to all components of care. At The James, the seamless integration of the treatment team, which includes surgeons, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, geneticists, psychologists and physical therapists, ensures that every patient receives a truly comprehensive management of their breast disease.

Patient Comments
Dr.Sam is the best doctor I have ever had. She is Very attentive and confident doctor. She also has kindness.I felt comfortable having her as my surgeon.
Dr Sam was very thorough and explain everything in depth. Answered all my questions and didn't make me feel rushed.
Confidence and comfort allowed me to calm down.
Dr.Sam was really good about giving me options and explaining benefits of each. I felt that I had my questions answered while meeting me her and I have the information available to make my decision.
Dr. Sam was great at communicating the options and the pros and cons of each. My mom is 87 and doesn't hear well. Dr. Sam was very patient and understanding.
Excellent Doctor and Excellent Staff
Excellent communication and made me feel relaxed and positive.
Everything went very smoothly and efficiently and the care providers were wonderful in helping to explain my situation.
Dr Sam is the absolute best
She listened about what I asked about and answered very caring and completely. Wonderful
This was not best visit with Doctor Sam. She seemed a bit tired and rushed. I am an old RN and my expectations are high - plus this my second go round with Br Ca and my previous Rx was with the top provider,Dr. Farrar, who is now retired. Care was adequate - but not the best. Also, her regular nurse practitioner had been assigned to some other area that day ( even tho she popped in while I was checking out to say hello to me) so her usual patient support was not provided by the substitute assigned to cover for her.
Care provider was excellent! Care provider explained everything and made notes that I was allowed to keep.
