The OSUCCC – James Leukemia and Hematologic Malignancies Program team members include world-renowned specialists and sub-specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, genetic sequencing and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia, as well as other kinds of leukemia and blood-related diseases.

Our team comprises extraordinarily talented individuals from a multicultural background who strive to reach the highest accomplishment levels while also maintaining a humble demeanor, respecting each other and sharing knowledge. This enables the team to extend in a broad range of directions, without fear of failure, to impact and change patients’ lives. How? I’m a hematologist-oncologist and provide clinical, inpatient care of patients with acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphocytic leukemia.
James S Blachly, MD
I’m an oncologist focused on the treatment of patients diagnosed with hairy cell leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
Uma Borate, MS, MBBS
I am a hematologist specializing in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) and clonal cytopenias of unknown significance.
Hannah Choe, MD
I am a hematologist who specializes in blood and marrow stem cell transplantation and treating patients with myeloid diseases, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myeloproliferative diseases and other conditions requiring allogeneic stem cell transplantation.

I am an associate professor in the Division of Hematology at The Ohio State University and a member of the Leukemia and Hematologic Malignancies Program at the OSUCCC – James, where my lab focuses primarily on understanding the genomic underpinnings of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
