Who We Are

The nationally renowned experts of the OSUCCC – James Skull Base Cancer Research Center are dedicated to developing and conducting cutting-edge research that advances innovative breakthroughs and treatments for patients with skull base tumors while also preparing today’s international scholars to join the ranks of world-class medical researchers.

The OSUCCC – James Skull Base Research Center team of research experts — led by internationally renowned surgeons Ricardo L. Carrau, MD (otolaryngology) and Daniel M. Prevedello, MD, (neurosurgery) — spans a broad range of disciplines: from medical oncologists, endocrinologists, surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists to molecular and biological pathologists, neuroradiologists and more — each specializing in specific areas of skull base research.

It’s that sub-specialization and singular focus that enables this team to discover, develop and deliver research outcomes that lead to the most advanced surgical treatments (including a wide range of tailored head-and-neck and neurological surgeries in which the experts utilize open, endoscopic and microscopic approaches), refined clinical procedures, and highly targeted, precision therapies for each patient — which can mean improved outcomes, faster responses, fewer side effects and more hope for skull base cancer patients everywhere.

The OSUCCC – James Skull Base Research Center is also one of a select few of its kind in the country, not only because of some of the most advanced technology and equipment found in its state-of-the-art laboratories, but also because of the Center’s collaboration among a unique, world-class group of scientists and researchers — placing the OSUCCC – James at the forefront of skull base tumor research worldwide.
