Cancer CME Events

The OSUCCC – James and the Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) are dedicated to providing high quality continuing medical education (CME) to physicians and other health care professionals in order to facilitate the delivery of better and enhanced patient care and outcomes.

The OSUCCC – James is a founding member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, an alliance of 28 leading cancer centers that establishes national clinical oncology practice guidelines and standards of cancer care used nationwide.

Pursuant to our goal of disseminating and applying new knowledge, the OSUCCC – James provides attendees updates on the latest advances in evidence-based medicine to enhance practice performance and improve patient outcomes.

Target Audience

As a preeminent academic institution, Ohio State serves the educational demands of an array of health care professionals in many specialties. Target audiences typically include physicians, researchers, nurses and other health care professionals in the community at the local, regional and national level as well as Ohio State faculty and staff.

Content

The OSUCCC – James determines educational deficiencies by utilizing several needs assessment sources, including journal articles or other peer reviewed sources, clinical evidence and research, audience survey instruments and discussion with clinical and research faculty. Upon identification of educational needs, programming is produced, incorporating clinical best practices and evidence-based guidelines. Ohio State applies many learning mechanisms, such as case reviews, audience question and answer, panel discussions and multi-media presentations.

Accreditation

The Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education (CCME) has received Accreditation with Commendation as a provider of Continuing Medical Education from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®). This is the ACCME’s highest award status, reflecting CCME’s compliance with all 22 of ACCME’s accreditation criteria. The new accreditation runs until March 31, 2018.

The rating is the highest available by a CME provider, and according to ACCME policy is “reserved for programs which are truly exceptional.”

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center designates CME educational activities on an hour per hour basis in Category 1 credit toward the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award.
