Overview
Membership to the Center for Cancer Metabolism (CCM) is open to all who have an interest in learning about cancer metabolism. Applications are reviewed frequently and are used primarily as a means of learning more about potential CCM members.
Membership Criteria
Membership is open to all at faculty at The Ohio State University. To be a member of the Center for Cancer Metabolism, an investigator must have an active faculty appointment at The Ohio State University or an affiliated institution. Prospective members can be engaged in cancer metabolism research or a compatible field or can simply be interested in learning about and pursuing collaborative, interdisciplinary research in the field of cancer metabolism. Applicable fields include but are not limited to: bioinformatics, cell biology, cancer biology, epigenetics, genetics, metabolic flux analyses in human or animal models, translational science, metabolomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, or research focusing on cancer microbiome or the cancer microenvironment. Because cancer metabolism is inherently a multidisciplinary field, we welcome investigators of all backgrounds who wish to learn about cancer metabolism and contribute to CCM research efforts.
Faculty external to The Ohio State University currently engaged in or entering into collaborative research in cancer metabolism with members of the CCM are also encouraged to apply.
Member Expectations
- Members should have a strong drive and desire to form collaborative, multidisciplinary research teams with the goal of formulating cutting-edge research questions and making discoveries that significantly advance the science and understanding of cancer metabolism.
- Members should contribute to CCM output goals such as high-impact publications, conference and Symposium presentations, production of top-tier graduate students, and/or securing of grant funding such as muli-PI NIH grants.
- Members should be interested in actively participating in CCM programming, whether it be attending seminars, weekly research in progress meetings, etc. While participation in any given programming is not required of members, we wish for all of our members to be actively engaged in some way
- Members are expected to embody CCM values of collaboration, leadership, and diverse, equitable, inclusive science.
CCM Resources and Member Benefits
- All Ohio State faculty are welcome to CCM shared resources and analytical equipment. The CCM is intended to serve as a central hub to provide easy access to Ohio State's diverse set of resources, analytical equipment and expertise in the field of cancer metabolism. Please consider forming collaborative research efforts with our members.
- The CCM offers pilot funding opportunities for researchers interested in investigating topics in cancer metabolism. This pilot funding should be used with the intent of securing further research funding in the field of cancer metabolism. Please consider joining and participating in the CCM if you apply for this funding source. We all stand to benefit when we engage with each other over novel research ideas.
- All CCM members will be placed on the CCM email distribution list that provides information on internal and external funding opportunities, special seminars and updates to other CCM activities.
- All members have the opportunity to present at CCM-sponsored events such as weekly research in progress meetings, seminars and at the Annual CCM Symposium. We welcome all Ohio State faculty, research staff and students to attend our events and present cancer metabolism research at them. Please consider joining the CCM if your research group does cancer metabolism work.
- CCM members have priority scheduling to meet with distinguished external CCM guest speakers.
- CCM members will participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment dedicated to the generation of novel research projects. Expected outputs include multi-PI, P01 and small individual grants for research in addition to high-impact journal publications, translational studies and drug development.
Application Procedure
To apply for CCM membership, applicants must submit an application to the director of the CCM. As a reminder, this application simply helps us to know you better. Membership in the CCM is open to all at Ohio State.
