The Center for Community Outreach and Engagement at the OSUCCC – James is dedicated to increasing cancer awareness in the community with an emphasis on increasing participation in cancer clinical trials.
The goals of the program are to:
- Inform the community about the OSUCCC – James
- Educate the community about cancer prevention, detection and treatment
- Develop relationships in the central Ohio community
- Work with health care providers and educate them about clinical research
- Increase enrollment in clinical trials and research studies
By utilizing data from the Recruitment, Intervention and Survey Shared Resource, we are able to identify problems at the local level (e.g., determinants of disease, mitigating factors/treatments), foster research-based treatment and behavioral strategies, and develop practice-changing paradigms and dissemination strategies.
