The Need for Funding

There are many questions and problems that we must solve for cancer research, and there are very few resources available to fund cancer research. While funding from National Institutes of Health and Foundations can fund a fraction of research, we rely on philanthropic donations to further cancer research.

Donations are especially important since the National Institutes of Health and Foundations are less likely to fund high risk ideas which have the greatest potential to change how we approach cancer

In addition to high risk ideas, we also need to recruit the brightest young scientists to work on cancer research.

How Can You Help?

  • Come meet the scientists that make up our team. Find out about the passion that drives them to end cancer.
  • Visit the Precision Cancer Medicine Lab for a hands-on tour.
  • Become a philanthropic partner and pick a specific cancer research topic and help solve that problem.
  • You can also choose to help fund a young scientist and their high risk ideas.

Pelotonia

Pelotonia: Team OncoBucksters

Pelotonia LogoFounded in 2008, Pelotonia is a grassroots movement with One Goal: End Cancer. Focused on a community of passionate fundraisers and centered around a three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism, Pelotonia has raised over $157 million for cancer research. Please join me in supporting this cause, where 100% of your donation will go directly towards life-saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

Roychowdhury lab's research focuses on caring for patients with advanced cancer seeking new smart drugs based on the genetic alterations in their cancer. We evaluate patients through a clinical study, test thousands of genes in their cancer to identify potential targets for drugs, and do our best to help our patients enroll in clinical trials with matching drugs.

Team OncoBucksters consists of riders, virtual riders, and volunteers from the Roychowdhury Lab Team. By supporting Pelotonia, and our team, you will help improve lives through innovative research with the ultimate goal of winning the war against cancer. Team OncoBucksters hosts multiple fundraisers throughout the year. 2017 events included:

  • The 4th Annual Dunkatonia 2017 on July 18, 2017
  • Pelotonia on the Farm on August 24, 2017 at Jorgensen Farm in Westerville, Ohio

Promotional materials released in 2017 included the 2nd edition of the Two Goals: Beat Michigan, Beat Cancer T-shirt, Pelotonia '17 lapel pins and Pelotonia stickers.

Thank you for choosing to participate in this unique opportunity to be a part of something special, and thank you for supporting our fight against cancer!
