The Clinical Translational Science Shared Resource (CTSSR) team works closely with clinical and translational scientists to develop a customizable portfolio of biomarker assays to provide innovative, correlative science studies associated with oncology clinical trials.

Wancai Yang

Wancai Yang, MS, MD, was trained as a pathologist and received postdoctoral fellow training on surgical pathology, cancer biology and oncology from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Rockefeller University, and Albert Einstein Cancer Center, respectively. As a principal investigator founded by the NIH/NCI and American Institute for Cancer Research, Dr. Yang aimed to investigate the roles of genetic and epigenetic alterations in cancer formation and progression, and to develop biomarkers for monitoring cancer progression and response to cancer therapy and for the prediction of cancer patient outcomes. He has contributed significantly into innovative discoveries in oncology and cancer biology from basic science to translational and clinical research and has shown a solid track of records of publications. Dr. Yang brought multidisciplinary expertise and skills from academia and biotech industry to OSU and is well-experienced in clinical and translational studies, genomic and genetic testing, biomarker identification and validation, data mining and bioinformatics, novel assay development and clinical application, project management, and education. Dr. Yang joined the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James in July 2022 and is the director of Clinical Translational Science Shared Resource.

Laura Bao, PhD, Research Associate, received bachelor of medical science and PhD degree on molecular biology and biochemistry and completed postdoctoral fellow training on biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer pathology, and cancer biology. As a research scientist, she managed and conducted research projects and is well-experienced on clinical studies, precision oncology, cancer biomarkers and translational medicine. She has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles. She joined the CTSSR in February 2023 and mainly works on clinical and translational research and biomarker discovery and mechanistic studies.
