Kara N. Corps, DVM, PhD, MS, Dipl. ACVP, is the CPDISR director and an assistant professor at The Ohio State University. Dr. Corps is a board-certified veterinary pathologist with expertise in toxicologic and comparative pathology of animal models. She earned her DVM degree from Michigan State University and completed a MS in comparative medicine and integrative biology while in veterinary school. She received her post-graduate training in anatomic pathology at North Carolina State University and earned her PhD in neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health. As CPDISR director, Dr. Corps oversees optimization of all new staining protocols for animal tissues and shares responsibility for all projects with Dr. Sue Knoblaugh, including pre-submission consultations, macroscopic lesion interpretation, histologic tissue evaluation, clinical pathology data interpretation and final report preparation. She also meets with investigative staff to discuss findings, demonstrate pertinent lesions, recommend ancillary tests and plan subsequent studies. Dr. Corps has extensive experience in advanced and experimental pathology techniques, including slide digitization and image analysis. She additionally has special interests in the nervous, immune, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems, with a recent emphasis on cancer immunotherapies.
