The OSUCCC – James nursing philosophy emphasizes our belief that discovery supports evidence-based practice, fosters innovative patient care through research and promotes professional development.
The oncology nurses partner with teams of physicians and scientists from across disciplines who take ideas from bench to bedside. The OSUCCC – James nurses maintain advanced knowledge and skill to safely administer novel treatments for patients enrolled on clinical trials. In addition, they routinely explore new ways to improve quality, enhance service, reduce cost and streamline operations.
The OSUCCC – James nursing staff are encouraged to apply for grants specifically designed to promote nursing research and innovation, including The James Nursing Research Grant and The James Nursing Innovation Grant. The goal of these grants is to support and inspire James staff to create a research or innovation project(s) that will result in enhanced patient, family and/or staff experience; improve care, culture and cost/time savings; improve patient outcomes/satisfaction; and increase patient safety in a creative way.
The James Innovation and Research Council also hosts an annual Innovation and Research Day to disseminate the work being done by James nurses.
