Endocrine cancers are complex, affecting our body’s hormones that control metabolism, growth and reproduction, and require a strong collaboration between clinicians with varying expertise to manage. Our endocrine oncology care is truly multidisciplinary, including our Comprehensive Adrenal Program.
We realize that every person’s unique condition requires different types of treatment, so we offer everything from robotic surgery, ablation, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy and others. Sometimes active surveillance (watch and wait) can be the best approach, and we’re experts at when this is appropriate and when we should intervene.

The OSUCCC – James began a commitment to endocrine cancer research in the 1970s behind the work of thyroid cancer expert Ernest Mazzaferri, MD, MACP, whose work has continued more than 50 years later.
Our principal investigators remain dedicated to leading studies integral to FDA approvals, defining new targeted therapies and diagnostic tests, and offering world-class training in state-of-the-art laboratories. With advancements in molecular biology and genetics, we want to better predict and diagnose endocrine cancer, and we focus on minimally invasive robotic surgery and developing nonsurgical therapies to bring the best treatments to those in our care.
