Our unified team approach means that you gain access to the best research and science-based treatments available today — all provided by hundreds of renowned research investigators working to develop novel, innovative approaches to preventing, diagnosing and treating adrenal disorders, and to understanding the disease in its many forms.
Improved Outcomes Through International Collaboration and Information Sharing
Members of the Comprehensive Adrenal Program are part of the American Australian Asian Adrenal (A5) network, a collaboration joining clinicians and basic scientists from North America, Central and South America, Australia and Asia. The A5 network, created in 2015, facilitates collaborations among researchers around the world who share clinical data and tissue samples for various research projects. This type of collaboration is extremely important for patients with rare diseases such as adrenal cancer.
Our Comprehensive Adrenal Program experts also work with other international organizations, including the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENSAT).
Adrenal Disorder Clinical Trials
The OSUCCC – James clinical trials program provides a broad spectrum of opportunities for patients with adrenal disorders regardless of type or even stage. Trials range from institutional to national and international, multi-institutional studies that are looking to set innovative new standards of care or create new drug therapies. In fact, OSUCCC – James patients have access to more of this nation’s leading-edge, targeted treatments and drugs than virtually anywhere else in the region.
As one of only a few cancer centers in the country funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to conduct both phase I and phase II clinical trials, the OSUCCC – James offers patients access to more clinical trials than virtually any other cancer hospital in the region, as well as more of the most targeted, effective treatment options, many of which are available only at the OSUCCC – James.
What's on the Horizon?
Today, following critical technology advancements and unprecedented breakthroughs in endocrinology, researchers right here at the OSUCCC – James, around the country and across the world have worked collaboratively to share knowledge, data and resources that bring significant advancements in care and treatment at a global level. Their vision: to speed the discovery, development and delivery of targeted treatment therapies for patients with adrenal disorders and, ultimately, to improve outcomes.
At the forefront of the improved outcomes for patients with adrenal disorders: timely, evidence-based, exceptional standards of clinical care and practice that represent current clinical science. The development of these recommendations, called clinical practice guidelines, has resulted in ongoing, improved awareness and recognition of adrenal disorders for practicing physicians, as well as earlier, better and more comprehensive interventions for patients. Through the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, national organizations focused on improving patient care, physicians and patients alike have additional access to updates on clinical practice guidelines, education, training and much more.
