This is a type of cancer that may originate within the adrenal glands or metastasize (spread) to the adrenal glands from a lymphoma somewhere else in the body. Often, both adrenal glands are affected and become enlarged. Adrenal lymphomas do not produce excess adrenal hormones.
Signs and symptoms of adrenal lymphoma may include unexplained weight loss, fever, localized pain, adrenal insufficiency and other symptoms classically associated with lymphoma. As the lymphoma grows and affects both glands, adrenal insufficiency, like Addison’s Disease, may occur.
If you have been diagnosed with adrenal lymphoma, the OSUCCC – James Comprehensive Adrenal Program team of experts will determine the best treatment protocol based on your specific condition, stage and location of lymphoma.
Treatments may include:
- Medication
- Surgery
- A combination of therapies like chemotherapy, radiation therapy and, in specific cases, immunotherapy
