Chaplains serve as members of the health care team by providing supportive spiritual care. Our professional chaplains are theologically and clinically trained. Their work reflects:
- Sensitivity to multicultural and multifaith realities
- Respect for patients’ spiritual or religious preferences
- Understanding of the impact of illness on individuals and their caregivers
- Accountability as part of the professional patient care team

- Your name and room number
- The name of your pastor or faith representative, the name of your church or place of worship, and a telephone number, if known
Prayer Services Inside the Hospital
The Department of Chaplaincy and Clinical Pastoral Education offers worship services throughout the week and on special religious holidays. Our Sanctuaries, or chapels, are open 24 hours a day and are located in:
- Rhodes Hall, in the fifth-floor Atrium near the Health Science Library
- The James, on the first floor near the cafeteria
- Brain and Spine Hospital, in the first-floor main lobby
- Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, on the first floor behind the registration desk
- Ohio State East Hospital, in 3 North
Prayer services take place weekly in the Rhodes Hall Sanctuary at the following times:
Sunday - Christian Worship, 10 a.m.
Wednesday - Roman Catholic Mass, 12:30 p.m.
Friday - Muslim Community Prayer, 1:30 p.m.
