Cancer rehabilitation at the OSUCCC – James provides a comprehensive program focusing on functional restoration after cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Physical Therapy

Our goal is to maximize function and improve quality of life with individualized treatment plans for each cancer survivor. Our multidisciplinary team consists of physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as interventional pain physicians, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation and pain psychology, and integrative medicine modalities, including massage therapy and acupuncture.

Symptoms and sequela of cancer treatment addressed within our clinic include:

  • Fatigue
  • Balance difficulties
  • Weakness
  • Memory loss
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Musculoskeletal disorders including joint pain and muscle spasms
  • Neuropathy due to medications or chemotherapy
  • Post-surgical pain syndromes
  • Post-mastectomy syndrome
  • Post-thoracotomy syndrome
  • Radiation fibrosis

We also evaluate patients for addition of any appropriate pain interventions for their conditions including but not limited to:

  • Epidural steroid injections
  • Intra-articular joint injections
  • Peripheral nerve blocks and radiofrequency ablations
  • Neuromodulation including spinal cord stimulation
  • Intrathecal pain pumps
