Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Program
Adolescents and Young adults diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15-39 are recognized as a population with a unique treatment and adjustment needs because of the developmental milestones that commonly occur in this stage of life. Our James AYA Program provides comprehensive treatment, support programs and access to leading experts in AYA cancer care to help individuals navigate treatment and adjust to life with a cancer diagnosis.
Cancer Rehabilitation and Pain Management Intervention
Physical changes caused by your cancer and/or treatment can be evaluated by our team of doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and massage therapists. These professionals will work with you to help reduce your symptoms and improve your level of activity. Specialty services include pain management and procedures for pain control, such as nerve blocks, and other treatments to lessen side effects to improve your quality of life.
Cancer Survivorship
During your visit you will meet with a provider to review your health history and talk about any of your concerns related to treatment. Patients who have finished treatment may receive a personalized Treatment Summary and Survivorship Care Plan with details about their cancer treatment, follow-up care, long- and late-term side effects, guidelines for cancer screening, and tips on how to maintain health and well-being.
Fertility Preservation and Sexual Health
Cancer and cancer treatments can sometimes change your ability to have children and may impact sexual health. There may be options to protect your ability to have children and ways to enhance your sexual health during and after treatment. Our team of experts can provide you with information and support for your personal needs.
Integrative Oncology
The Integrative Oncology Program offers the best of both conventional and complementary medicine to promote optimal health, prevent and treat disease and meet each patient’s unique physical, emotional and spiritual health goals. Our nationally recognized practitioners include nurses, physicians, massage therapists and chiropractors, along with specialists in nutrition therapy, Ayurvedic medicine, Chinese medicine and many other fields. We offer mind-body medicine, including meditation and many other nontraditional therapies to help improve your quality of life and well-being during and beyond cancer treatment.
Palliative Care
The goal of Palliative Care is to enhance your quality of life by improving your physical comfort, preventing or lessening suffering, and providing psychological and spiritual support. Our team includes doctors, advanced practice providers, a psychologist, a pharmacist, a social worker and a chaplain.
Psychosocial Oncology
Counseling can help you learn healthy ways to respond to the challenges that cancer may have caused for you and your family. Our team of licensed psychologists, clinical social workers, expressive therapists and a harm-reduction counselor offers services to help individuals diagnosed with cancer and cancer caregivers manage the stress and emotions that often come with a cancer diagnosis. Art and Music Therapy
Art and music therapy can help to reduce stress, elevate mood and improve overall well-being during and after cancer treatment. Our Board certified art and music therapists provide support to individuals diagnosed with cancer in the Supportive Care Clinic and during your hospital stay. Individuals diagnosed with cancer and their caregiver may also attend free art and music programs through JamesCare for Life.
