Education

Education programs are led by experts from a broad range of disciplines who share their knowledge and experience about the latest in cancer research, prevention, early detection, treatment, side effect management and survivorship. Programs

"Ask the Expert"

Offered monthly, these programs provide updates on specific cancer types, coping strategies, side effect management and other topics of interest to cancer survivors and their caregivers.

Career Counseling Workshops

Workshops are offered throughout the year and are tailored to the specific needs of cancer survivors. Topics include resume writing and cover letters, interviewing skills and job search strategies.

Conferences and Special Events

Disease-specific conferences and special events are offered throughout the year.

Emotional Health and Coping

James clinicians share information about how to cope with the challenges and feelings that may arise after a cancer diagnosis. Programs will focus on emotional adjustment for cancer survivors and include topics such as managing worry and maintaining relationships.

Know Your Legal Rights and Protections in the Workplace

This program addresses the definition of a disability, forms of discrimination, disclosure, accommodation request(s) and benefit available such as Family Medical Leave. 

Lunch & Learn: Oncology Rehabilitation

Oncology rehabilitation staff lead monthly discussions on a wide range of topics to assist in managing cancer-related side effects such as fatigue, neuropathy, chemo brain, lymphedema or balance. Other topics include strength training, starting an exercise program or resistance training.

Medicare 101

Annual program on community resources and a Medicare overview for cancer survivors.

Surfing the Web to Find Quality Health Information

This interactive workshop provides tools and resources to search for quality health information on the internet.

Women and Sexuality: An Information Opportunity for Cancer Survivors

Learn about sexuality and common difficulties arising from cancer and other natural changes throughout one’s life. Offered on a recurring basis.
