Learn about techniques such as meditation, mindfulness and integrative practices that can provide restoration in times of stress and illness. Programs
Introduction to Mind, Body, Spirit
These programs rotate and include the following:
- Acupuncture – Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that stimulates areas of the body with gentle use of thin needles to help treat a variety of medical conditions. This presentation provides information on the potential benefits of how acupuncture can help manage common symptoms experienced by cancer survivors
- Everyday Practice in Resilience – This series provides a variety of gentle accessible movements, breath practices, restorative postures, and body centered meditations that fosters compassionate self-awareness, decrease feelings of stress and burnout, and support a state of wellbeing
- Reflexology – Reflexology is the application of pressure to areas on the feet. This presentation includes an overview of reflexology and a demonstration where participants can experience a reflexology mini session.
- Self-Shiatsu and Acupressure – Shiatsu (which means finger pressure) combines acupressure, joint rotation and stretching. Learn easy self-shiatsu practices in a group setting.
Mindfulness Programs
Monthly Mindfulness Workshop
This monthly, one hour workshop explores mindfulness as a practice to increase awareness of the present moment and connection to your surroundings. Participants will learn evidence-based ways mindfulness can develop focus, healthy habits and resilience through guided exercises with a mindfulness coach.
Mindful Walk
This workshop includes a myth-busting introduction to mindfulness and an opportunity to let the Columbus Museum of Art help wake up your senses. You'll leave with fresh ways to savor more of the visual richness in the world outside the museum walls.
Mindfulness in Motion Series
Offered biannually, this eight-week series offers guided mindfulness, meditation, community sharing and gentle yoga-inspired stretches within a structured curriculum. Participants may take this series one time.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a graceful form of gentle exercise and stretching that involves a series of flowing movements performed in a slow, focused manner while practicing deep breathing and setting mindful intentions. Participants may take this series one time.
