COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Division of Neuro-oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James) is hosting the second annual Brain Tumor Family Caregivers Workshop on April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Ohio State University’s Ear and Eye Institute, 915 Olentangy River Road. Media are invited to attend this event. The workshop, for family members that care for a loved one with brain cancer, will begin with Chris Spielman’s program “Caregiving – You are not Alone.” He brought national attention to the role of the cancer caregiver when he took a year off from his professional football career to care for his wife Stefanie after her breast cancer diagnosis. Together, they worked to raise more than $6.5 million for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at OSUCCC-James. Other programming includes treatment updates, cutting-edge clinical trials, diet and nutrition and survivorship information from healthcare professionals. There will also be a panel discussion on pain management and opportunities throughout the day for caregivers to connect. The workshop is free of charge, but registration is required.
