Solove Research Institute COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dr. Arnab Chakravarti, chair and professor of the department of radiation oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, is available for outside comment on research presented during the 52nd annual meeting of the American Society of Radiation Oncology held in San Diego Oct. 31-Nov. 4. Chakravarti will present research from a Phase I/II clinical trial using molecular profiling to identify a subset of glioblastoma patients who might benefit from the addition of the novel targeted therapy gefitinib to radiation therapy compared to patients treated with radiation therapy alone. Preliminary findings show that adding gefitinib to radiation therapy does not appear to benefit the general, unselected population of glioblastoma patients, and reveal biomarker profiles that predict worse outcomes for patients treated with the combination of geftinib plus radiation therapy. Chakravarti’s research interests in radiation oncology include the central nervous system, prostate and experimental therapeutics. The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G.
