COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dr. James Zwiebel, chief of the Investigational Drug Branch in the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program of the National Cancer Institute, will address more than 800 cancer researchers during a scientific meeting sponsored by The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Zwiebel, who works with his colleagues to bring new cancer therapies into the clinic, is scheduled to speak at 8:10 a.m. Friday (2/19) at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and will present “Development of Investigational Combinations by the NCI Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program.” Reporters are invited to attend the event, which is closed to the public. Each year, Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute hosts this one-day event for its cancer researchers. This year’s program, with a theme of “Targeted Cancer Therapy: Discovery to Personalized Medicine,” will feature discussions about the latest bench to bedside therapies, genomics, programmatic advances in personalized medicine and clinical trials. Other invited speakers include Colleen M. McBride, Ph.D., chief and senior investigator and head of the Public Health Genomics Section in the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of the National Institutes of Health, who will present “Genomics and Cancer Control: Bringing Innovation To Behavior Change Interventions.” Dr. Peter G. Shields, deputy director of the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University, will discuss “Lifestyle Pathways, Mechanisms and Breast Cancer Risk,” and John D. McPherson, Ph.D., director of Cancer Genomics at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, will present “High Throughput Sequencing and Cancer Genomics.” The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- Arthur G.
