COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Living with Lung Cancer Workshop: Support for Patients and Families, which will focus on advancements in lung cancer treatment and symptom management, will be held Nov. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Longaberger Alumni House, 2200 Olentangy River Road. Dr. Gregory Otterson, co-director of the thoracic oncology program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, will be the keynote speaker. Additional speakers will focus on common survivorship concerns, including how to cope with the uncertainty of living with the disease that is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States and worldwide. Each year in the United States, more people die from lung cancer than from colorectal, breast and prostate cancer combined. More than 220,000 new cases of the disease are expected this year, along with almost 160,000 deaths, according to the American Cancer Society. The workshop is sponsored by The Mary Ann Kirkby Living with Lung Cancer Fund and the Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
