Music therapy groups involve individualized, music-based experiences to help survivors, including caregivers and families, manage physical, emotional and spiritual challenges along their survivorship journeys.
With guidance from a professionally trained music therapist, survivors can participate in targeted musical exercises to manage symptoms such as pain, and to improve quality of sleep, enhance mood and support family connectedness. Survivors can learn and practice functional, therapeutic music exercises to develop skill in stress management, anxiety management, adjustment, relationship maintenance and resilience.
Music therapy can be offered on an individual clinical basis through the General Survivorship clinic.
No previous music experience is required. Music materials are provided, but participants may feel free to bring their own.
