The Ohio State University College of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine is seeking an exceptional academic physician scholar with proven leadership skills to lead a highly successful hematology program as the Director of the Division of Hematology, an academic unit within the Department of Medicine.

Responsibilities of this committed leader include:

  • Ensuring Ohio State’s Division of Hematology remains prominent on the national/international stage attributable to its innovative research, outstanding clinical care, strong outcomes, and the education of the next generation of academic hematologists.

  • Leading an academic division that consists of one of the largest and most experienced Hematology programs in the country

  • Mentoring and developing faculty throughout the Division

  • Recruiting and retaining top talent to the program

  • Developing and expanding academic, clinical and basic research activities devoted to the evaluation and management of patients with both malignant and non-malignant hematologic diseases

  • Augmenting the executive leadership of the Department of Medicine and the OSUCCC – James

  • Working closely with institutional development to enhance the philanthropic endeavors of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Hematology.


  • A minimum of ten years of strong academic experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in building innovative programs as well as recruiting and retaining faculty

  • Fellowship training in hematology

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine with Subspecialty Certification in Hematology

  • Respected Experience with research, clinical practice, and education

  • Qualify for academic appointment at the professor rank

  • An active research program in basic, translational, clinical or health services research is anticipated
