Ahmet Ayan, PhD, DABR, is a radiation physicist in the Department of Radiation Oncology and a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James, where his research interests include medical image analysis, data analytics, normal tissue toxicity modeling and radiation dosimetry methods.
In addition to holding two patents – one for a quality assurance phantom for radiation therapy linear accelerators and the other for a device that synchronizes the motions of two robots that have independent control systems – Dr. Ayan is studying the automatic intraoperative co-registration of patients and radiotherapy devices. He also evaluates real-time planning for intraoperative electron beam radiotherapy.
Dr. Ayan has co-authored several articles in peer-reviewed publications such as the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, the International Journal of Radiation Oncology and PLOS ONE. Additionally, he is a member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
