Dr. Skardale's lab employs biofabrication, biomaterials, and tissue engineering technologies to develop in vitro 3D cancer models for drug screening, disease modeling, mechanistic probing, and personalized medicine. They have created patient biospecimen-derived organoids for personalized drug screening studies from a range of cancers, including glioma, melanoma, mesothelioma, colorectal, appendiceal, lung, sarcoma, myeloma, and several rare tumors. We also employ microfluidics to create tumor-on-a-chip systems, as well as multi-organoid metastasis-on-a-chip platforms.
