Basem William, MD, MRCP(UK), FACP, is a clinical investigator with focus on translational approaches to the treatment of lymphomas. His background in lymphoma and clinical investigation comes from fellowship training at the University of Nebraska; an international center of excellence for lymphomas. His background in basic/ translational science and preclinical drug development comes from his prior association with the Jackson Laboratory. In 2015, he was recruited to the OSUCCC – James and, more recently, he assumed leadership of the multidisciplinary cutaneous lymphoma program; a program unique for the high level of vertical (bench to bedside) as well as horizontal (multispecialty) integration (with dermatology and radiation oncology).

Dr. William’s research focuses on development of novel clinical trials for patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) as well developing novel blood and marrow transplant approaches for patients with relapsed and refractory lymphomas. He works with a multi-disciplinary team of basic scientists to translate discoveries from bench to bedside. Dr. William currently serves as the principal investigator on multiple clinical trials in CTCL and transplant. He is also a member of the lymphoma and immunobiology working committees of the Center of International Blood and Marrow Transplantation Research (CIBMTR).

His work has been published in numerous medical journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and British Journal of Haematology and he has presented his research at more than a dozen national and international conferences. Dr. William received multiple awards including the 2011 American Society of Clinical Oncology Conquer Cancer Foundation Travel Award, the 2010 American Society of Hematology Travel Award, and the 2012 University of Nebraska Medical Center Fellow Research Award. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) since 2015.
