Christopher Weghorst, PhD, is a member of the Molecular Carcinogenesis and Chemoprevention Program at OSUCCC – James, where his work has earned him national recognition as a leader in molecular and comparative carcinogenesis research.
In particular, he focuses on genetic susceptibility to cancer, food-based cancer prevention, and translational assessment of prevention approaches in clinical trials.
One of his recent studies indicates that targeting the pro-inflammatory cytokine macrophage migration inhibitory factor could be a promising strategy in oral cancer prevention or therapy.
Dr. Weghorst has co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including International Journal of Cancer, Cancer Prevention Research, Gynecologic Oncology and Molecular Carcinogenesis.
