Clara Lee, MD, is a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, where her research focuses on understanding and improving how cancer patients make decisions about surgical treatments.Dr. Lee has developed measures for the quality of decisions about early-stage breast cancer treatments. She also has experience designing, implementing and analyzing multi-site studies of newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and long-term survivors. One of her recently published research projects detailed patient decision-making about breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. Her work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Pelotonia Foundation and the Plastic Surgery Foundation. Dr. Lee has co-authored numerous articles in well-respected publications, including JAMA Surgery, BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, Annals of Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She also has co-authored book chapters, including one on medical decision-making research in surgery for Success in Academic Surgery. She frequently has been interviewed by mainstream media, including Reuters, ABC News and U.S. News and World Report.
