Eric Seiber, PhD, is a member of the Cancer Control Program at the OSUCCC – James, where his research focuses on access to and use of cancer prevention services. In particular, he studies the role of health insurance and coverage enrollment barriers, particularly on Appalachian populations, as well as geographic disparities in treatment times for newly diagnosed patients. One of his recent studies indicates a unique role of for-profit hospitals as they provided shortened treatment delays. The research revealed that colorectal cancer patients in Kentucky were treated more quickly than patients with the same disease at not-for-profit hospitals in three other Appalachian states. Dr. Seiber has co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including The Journal of Rural Health, Cancer, Nicotine & Tobacco Research and Pediatric Neurology.
