Translational Therapeutics

Glioblastoma (GBM) is highly resistant to standard chemoradiation therapy. While GBM stem cells (GSCs) are believed to be the driver for therapeutic resistance and tumor heterogeneity, their origin is still unknown. My laboratory’s focus is to study the physiology of GSCs in parallel with neural stem cells (NSCs). In particular, we are interested in understanding the origin of GSCs and elucidating the mechanisms for tumor heterogeneity. This eventually will enable us to discover critical therapeutic targets and develop novel targeted therapies.
