Research Interest

Jacob Yount, PhD, is a member of the Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics Program at OSUCCC – James, where his research focuses on developing and implementing tools to study protein post-translational modifications.

In particular, he explores protein lipidations such as palmitoylation, myristoylation and prenylation, as well as protein ubiquitination.

One of his recent studies, a mass-tag labeling method to analyze endogenous levels of protein S-fatty acylation in cells, should help quantitative studies of this regulated and dynamic lipid modification.

Dr. Yount has co-authored numerous articles in well-respected publications, including Virology, PLOS Pathogens and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
