As a member of the Leukemia Research Program at the OSUCCC – James, Jonathan Butchar, PhD, seeks to improve the efficacy of antibody therapy through his research. His work brings together pathogenesis and tumor immunotherapy by studying interactions between Fc-gamma receptor and Toll-like receptor signaling. One of Dr. Butchar’s recent research projects suggests that IFN-? can re-educate nurse-like cells to shift toward an effector-like state. It also revealed that therapies promoting local IFN-? production may be effective adjuvants for antibody therapy in chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He has co-authored numerous articles published in well-respected media, including The Journal of Immunology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Blood and Journal of Leukocyte Biology.
