Julie Gastier-Foster, PhD, is a professor in the departments of Pediatrics and Pathology at Ohio State, where she also is a researcher in the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James.Dr. Gastier-Foster oversees the Institute for Genomic Medicine Clinical Laboratory at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which includes the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) reference laboratories. She also leads the COG and SWOG leukemia banks and serves as principal investigator of the National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Genomics Biospecimen Core Resource, which processes specimens for large scale cancer genomics projects such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Dr. Gastier-Foster’s work on childhood cancer and her other medical research have been published in dozens of well-respected publications, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatric Blood & Cancer, Clinical Cancer Research and The Lancet Oncology. She co-authored more than 90 articles between 2013 and 2017. She has been invited to participate and present her expertise in clinical diagnostics and biorepositories at many international organizations and conferences, including the International Childhood Cancer Cohort Consortium, the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer, the European MRD Consortium, the International Genomics Consortium and the Radiation Effects Research Foundation.
