Mary Ellen Wewers, RN, PhD, MPH, is a member of the Cancer Control Programat OSUCCC – James, where her research focuses on tobacco cessation among smokers and smokeless tobacco users in Appalachia.

One of her recent studies tests a novel methodology characterizing geographical patterns of pro- and anti-tobacco exposure in an economically disadvantaged region.

Dr. Wewers has co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including American Journal of Health Behavior, Journal of Health Communication, The Journal of Rural Health and Tobacco Control.
