Dr. Cherian specializes in the clinical care of patients with breast cancer and in using molecular techniques to dissect the pathogenesis of cancer. His current research interests include: the pathogenesis of endocrine resistance in metastatic breast cancer and the design of therapies to target patients who have progressed while on 1st line therapy; the role of matri-cellular proteins in invasive behavior of inflammatory breast cancer; strategies to reduce chemotherapy resistance in early stage triple negative breast cancer to improve response rates to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy; and the role of interferon induced genes in breast cancer pathogenesis
