Dr. Lee's research focuses on how transforming growth factor beta (TGF beta) signaling regulates vascular functions during tumor development and metastasis. Dr. Lee's lab is particularly interested in understanding the role of two endothelial-specific TGF beta receptors, endoglin and ALK1, which are essential regulators of angiogenesis and tumor vascularization. As both endoglin and ALK1 are emerging as promising vascular targets in clinical trials, defining their signaling and cellular functions will be critical to predict potential mechanisms of resistance and identify patients who will most likely benefit from endoglin and ALK1-targeted therapies or combination therapies.
