Pawan Kumar, PhD, is a member of the OSUCCC – James Translational Therapeutics Program, where his laboratory has been studying the tumor biology of head and neck cancer, particularly the acquisition of chemoresistance and metastasis.Dr. Kumar holds two patents: one related to combination treatment therapy for squamous cell carcinoma, and the other for inhibition of angiogenesis and tumor growth in disease characterized by female preponderance. Results from one of his recent research projects point toward a potentially effective treatment strategy for head-and-neck squamous cell carcinoma patients by targeting histone deacetylases with suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid. Dr. Kumar has co-authored more than 50 articles in prestigious journals, including Cancer Research, Oncogene, Blood and Molecular Cancer Therapeutics.
