Ruben Petreaca, PhD is a member of the OSUCCC – James Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics Program. He is based at the OSU Marion campus. His research focuses on DNA double strand break repair in the S. pombe model system. Dr. Petreaca's primary goal is to understand the genetic requirements for intra-chromosomal (interstitial) deletions. He uses in vivo genetic assays to delineate repair pathways epistatic groups. He focuses particularly on the role of chromatin remodeling factors in DSB repair. His research queries data from the TCGA portal to assemble a comprehensive deletion map of the human genome in researching how deletions accumulate in human cells.
