Associate Professor

Research Program

Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics

Dr. Prakash has two main research interests. Both are driven by engineering principles for developing new technological solutions for (a) fundamental understanding, (b) new diagnostic tools, and (c) new instrumentation for improving treatment outcomes. The first effort focuses on measuring, quantifying, and developing instrumentation to electromagnetically determine properties of liver metastases from colorectal cancer. A continuing effort from this research is to develop new modalities for real-time tissue imaging for accurate surgical margin identification during surgery. The second effort focuses on innovative microfluidic platforms to enable isolation, concentration, and analysis of cells and cellular components with applications to liquid biopsy and angiogenesis.
