I am a Professor in the department of Biomedical Informatics. I currently serve in the role of Vice Chair for Collaborative Research in this department. In this role I supervise more than 30 research faculty and staff in the areas of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Clinical Informatics, Software Engineering and Data Science. I am also the Director of the Center for Biostatistics (Center) in BMI. I have been in this role since 2012. During the last 6 years in this role, the Center had a considerable increase in federal funding with a budget of more than $2M in funded federal grants and these collaborative grants represent more than $35M to the College of Medicine. During my tenure at OSU I have served in the role of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics core leader on several P01s and SPOREs. Due to my locally and nationally scientific relationships, I have been able to create a strong biostatistics shared resource that provides analytics support, methods development to all health sciences colleges. I am currently the director of the Biostatistics Shared Resource of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Support Grant and Associate Director of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research and Design (BERD) of the Center Clinical Translational Science Award (CCTS). I am site PI of the PCORnet/PCRF national CDRN: PaTH network. This multi-site patient–centered research network integrates EMR from 7 sites and will enable the conduct of observational research and clinical trials while allowing each participating organization to maintain physical and operational control of the data. Due to my leadership and involvement with this network, I secured OSU as one of the sites for multi-site pragmatic clinical trials, such as ADAPTABLE, INVESTED and more recently PREVENTABLE. My areas of expertise include statistical genetics, feature selection methods and design of experiments for laboratory and clinical studies.
