Sung Yoon, PhD, is a member of the Molecular Biology and Cancer Genetics Program at OSUCCC – James, where her research focuses on understanding how the balance between cell survival and death is maintained in the adult nervous system.

In particular, she is exploring the role of stress kinase JNK signaling, under pathological conditions.

One of her recent studies indicates EphrinB2/STAT1/JNK3 signaling is necessary for vessel pruning and defects in this pathway could contribute to human persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous.

Dr. Yoon has co-authored many articles in well-respected publications, including The Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Communications, Journal of Biological Chemistry and Neuro-Oncology.
