My main research interests are in digestive system tumors, including colorectal cancer (CRC), pancreatic cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and neuroendocrine tumors. CRC is the 3rd most common cancer in both men and women in the US. Pancreas and liver cancers are projected to become the 2nd and 3rd leading causes of cancer-related death by 2030. My unique position as a surgical pathologist/researcher allows me to correlate morphologic/immunohistochemial features of the tumors with clinical outcome and molecular characteristics. The results of these studies will potentially help to develop diagnostic tools, identify predicative markers, or have therapeutic implications.
