Translational Therapeutics

Yizhou Dong, PhD, is a member of the Translational Therapeutics Programat the OSUCCC – James, where his research group is devoted to drug discovery and delivery for the treatment of cancer, as well as inherited genetic disorders and infectious diseases.

Dr. Dong and colleagues integrate their specialty in pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, biomedical engineering, materials formulation and animal studies to design therapeutic medicines and uncover their mechanisms of action. The ultimate goal is to translate their scientific results and technological inventions into more effective treatments and more fulfilling lives for patients.

Dr. Dong has received the Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, the Early Career Investigator Award of the Bayer Hemophilia Awards Program, Research Awards of the National PKU Alliance, a New Investigator Grant from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Foundation, and a ResearchReward from TriLink BioTechnologies.

He has published more than 30 articles in high-impact journals, including Cell Research, Nano Letters, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Bioconjugate Chemistry, Nature Biotechnology and Nature Nanotechnology. His research has resulted in 18 patents and inventions.
