Raising Colorectal Cancer Screening Awareness in Ohio
The James' Darrell M. Gray, MD, MPH, is working with colleagues and the community to increase colorectal cancer screening.
Less than 70 percent of age-appropriate Ohioans undergo recommended colorectal cancer screenings, reducing their chances of potentially life-saving prevention and early detection.
Through his work with colleagues and community members, though, Gray is providing education and screening opportunities that could help reverse the troubling trend.
“We’re approaching awareness, access and advocacy,” Gray says. “On the awareness front, we want to make sure that we’re partnering with local and national community-facing organizations to address awareness. On the access front, we have opportunities where we’re extending access to uninsured and underinsured individuals.”
