This week on Toward a Cancer-Free World, 10TV’s Tracy Townsend and Dr. Douglas Martin show us how pediatric cancer patients from Nationwide Children’s Hospital can choose an animated forest friend to accompany them throughout their entire treatment journey at the new James. Dr. Martin explains how the OSUCCC – James developed a very cheerful, happy environment for children receiving radiation therapy, because it can be is a very scary time, both for the child and for the family. “This interactive Wall allows them to play, to do — spend their play on the screen. A child can pick out their animal friend that they want, and that will accompany them — they’ll interact with that animal friend on the screen here, and their animal friend will show up in the exam room in the other part of the department.” Learn more in the video below.
